Annual Return Filings - Alberta Corporations
Keep your corporations active and in good standing with Alberta Corporate Registry by filing your annual return. It is the responsibility for each Alberta corporation to notify Corporate Registry that your company is still operating and the registered information (directors/shareholders/attorney/address) is up to date. This is not the same as your tax return which is filed through Revenue Canada.
**Annual Returns for societies and non-profit organizations must be sent directly to AB Corporate Registry for filing. **

Updates on Mailed Reminders
Starting at the end of January 2019, annual return reminders will be sent by email to corporations, non-profit organizations, limited liability partnerships, and cooperatives where there is an email address on record. Annual return reminders are sent about 2 weeks before the annual return is due. The reminders will continue to be sent by regular mail when there is no email address on file or when there is a notice because the previous year's annual return has not been filed. Directors of Alberta corporations will continue to receive copies of the outstanding annual return notice by regular mail.
An email address will be required when incorporating an Alberta or non-profit corporation or cooperative or registering a business name, or extra-provincial corporation or cooperative. The email address will also be required when filing an annual return/report or when updating a corporation or cooperative address, attorney for service, business partner, or sole proprietor.
