First Time Registration
To register all new/used vehicles/trailers or to obtain an inspection request form, the following is required:
- Proof of Ownership
- Bill of Sale
- Lease Agreement
- Gift Letter
- Proof of Valid Alberta Insurance (the name on the insurance must be identical to the name of the buyer on the Bill of Sale)
- Valid Driver License
- New Vehicles require its' original New Vehicle Information Statement (NVIS) which the dealers must provide

Vehicle Registration Renewal (in person)
To renew your vehicle registration, the following is required:
Vehicle Registration Renewal (Online)
The online site can only be used only if you are renewing your registration without changes. If you require any changes to your registration, for example a name or address change, you must apply for the renewal in person.
Remember to select "REGISTRY EXPRESS" as your Registry Agent, feel free to contact us if you encounter any problems during the renewal process.
If you have any outstanding fines, you won’t be able to renew your registration online. If you choose to pay your fines online first, you must wait a couple days for the payment to process before you can renew online.
If you are less than 10 business days away from your expiry date on your registration, please renew your registration in person.

- The insurance details from your Pink Card
- Credit Card (VISA, MasterCard or American Express)

Duplicate Registration
A duplicate registration can only be printed for a valid registered plate (excluding expired registration).
Only the owner of the registered plate can request a duplicate, if the owner is not present, a letter of authorization is needed in order to reprint the registration.
Out of Province Vehicles Registration
All vehicles last registered in another province, state or country must first be inspected by an authorized mechanic before being registered in Alberta.

When registered owners transfer their vehicle registrations from Saskatchewan or British Columbia to Alberta, they might be eligible for an exemption for the out of province inspection. Please consult with us for more information.

Out of Province Vehicles Registration

- Obtain a request for an Out of Province Inspection Form (Previous Out of Province registration or Bill of Sale is required) from our registry office
- Complete the Out of Province Inspection from any Certified Alberta Mechanic
- Obtain valid and current Alberta Vehicle Insurance
- Return to our office within 14 days of the out of province inspection certificate
Registration Requirement
- Valid acceptable identification
- Proof of vehicle ownership (e.g. Bill of Sale, previous registration)
- Valid and current Alberta Insurance
- Inspection Certificate from a certified Alberta Mechanic (within 14 days of inspection date on certificate)
- Vehicle Import Form 1 from Canada Customs for vehicles imported from outside of Canada
